Art Therapy for Adults
Being an adult and having to deal with life’s major events such as losses, change of roles and addition of new roles, new relationships or break ups, and transitions such as moving to a new city or a country can be stressful. While the traditional talk therapy can help identify the negative thoughts or the fears, art therapy can help adults get over their emotional blockages; the ones that they were taught to put up as a child, a teenager, or a young adult because that’s how it was expected of them to behave.
Art therapy for adults is often a combination of art and psychotherapy. In this way of therapy, clients will be encouraged to express their emotions and allow themselves to process the emotions without the use of words or judgement. Then, with the help of the therapist, they will explore the meanings of the emotions, its roots, and its impact on their current life, relationships, and decisions.
